PressTV War In Ukraine Rare Interview | Scott Ritter (USA) Versus Olena Tregub (Kiev)

In a rare interview, PressTV Spotlight features a speaker from the West that does not repeat the Washington, DC narrative on Ukraine and a speaker from Kiev that sees Russia as the enemy to defeat. Former Marine Intelligence Officer, Scott Ritter and Olena Tregub, Atlantic Council Millennium Fellow in Kiev discuss several current aspects of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine. My expectations may have created somewhat of a disappointment. This may have been given the two were not equal in political and military stature. That inequality can be found in Scott Ritter's years of experience in the military, political knowledge and knowledge of history versus that of the Millennium Fellow. Reasons why will be presented further down in this posting. Still I was surprised that someone from Kiev interviewed on PressTV and with Scott Ritter.

The topics of discussion include:
  • Weapons Supplies to Ukraine from the US and NATO
  • The Ukrainian Counteroffensive
  • The will of the Ukrainian people

The Atlantic Council and Its Millennium Fellowship

While listening to Olena Tregub, it is important to know about the Atlantic Council and its Millennium Fellowship. The Atlantic Council think tank is based in Washington, DC. You can hear its influence when she speaks.

The Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Leadership Program is a part-time year-long two year program. It is a high-impact leadership accelerator for rising leaders from around the world and across sectors. It is a leadership accelerator for exceptional young professionals that have demonstrated the capacity to tackle complex global challenges of the next generation.

Fellows hold a common belief in the power of constructive international engagement, democracy, human rights, rule-of-law, and sustainability as catalysts for good, while bringing a range of policy views from across the political spectrum to discussions on how we address this century’s greatest challenges from climate change to rapid technological disruption to the return of great power competition. - One young world

The Atlantic Council is an American think tank in the field of international affairs, favoring Atlanticism, founded in 1961. Mission Statement: "Driven by our mission of “shaping the global future together,” the Atlantic Council is a nonpartisan organization that galvanizes US leadership and engagement in the world, in partnership with allies and partners, to shape solutions to global challenges." - https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/

Atlanticism is belief in or support for a close relationship between western Europe and the US, or particularly for NATO.

I would have liked to see someone with more prominence from Kiev interviewed with Scott Ritter. The discussion may have been more challenging and informative. Still it is well worth hearing. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of the interview.
